Regulations and Standards

The manual osteopathy profession is not regulated in the province of British Columbia (Canada). As such there is yet no regulatory health association representing the profession in BC. BCAOMP is a voluntary non-regulatory organization set by the manual osteopathy profession.

The British Columbia Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners develops and enforces its Standards of Practice, Policies and Guidelines on its members.

Standards of Practice outline the base requirements osteopathic manual practitioners must meet to demonstrate clinical competence and deliver quality health care services. Contravening or failing to maintain a standard of practice is an act of professional misconduct and may lead to disciplinary action against a member by BCAOMP.
